Okay and just so you know, my boyfriend has said the obvious answer of air conditioning. Let's pretend you're deployed....

To help you out, my brother is currently deployed to the sandbox and I'm trying to think of something to send him to help alleviate some of stress he gets from his job every day. The most common ideas of keeping cool and what not really don't apply when you're in conditions like his. Plus having to work on vehicles that are sometimes still quite literally smoking hot puts another spin on doing his job.

They have these things that are basicly pads that you soak on water and hang around your neck and then tuck into your shirt, the water helps keep you cool. When i was in iraq with the Marines, they gave them to all the POG's who had time to worry about how hot it was. Another tip for him is to use a sock to keep water botles in, keep the sock wet and exposed to as much wind as possible, this will really help keep the water inside the bottle cold. Dependign what he is working on, they may have him in bays with decent ventelation or AC. Hope this helps.

Shade would be the first choice, second would be at least head protection. Also plenty of water, cold if possible. A fan would be nice as well. And surprisingly, salt. The arid heat leeches more than just fluids from your body. The human body needs salt as well. Extended periods of sweating causes dehydration, and salt loss.

An "Easy-up canopy" and an unending supply of cool water would be nice. Failing that, a good supply of Sunblocker, with an SPF of at least 40, since I don't need a sunburn, thank you very much!!

Try some ice packs or those things you put in freezer that last a long time in lunch packs, and try to place them on back of neck.

Something "nice" to look at to keep my mind off the heat.

But I supose I wouldn't get much work done then.

A wet fan would be nice. You know one that sprays a mist of water thru it.
