I think mark jackson tries too much to be positive, i never seen him criticize a player , you can miss 5-7 shots in row and you hit one and he all of sudden glorifies you. I like mark but i think he puts too much positive spin on plays. recently it was lebron having off nit , then hit one shot , here comes Mark jackson sreaming , talkin bout how great lebron is.

i do agree with you.
i think that he does try too hard sometimes
actually a lot of the time
i think maybe he isn't all that confident of himself so he trys to look all good by always being positive

To be fair to Mark, sometimes it's hard to criticize a fellow player, when you've been out there yourself, even when you're retired.... wait...scratch that... now I'M sounding like Jackson, while trying to defend him...

Yeah, he's just too nice a guy to be truly critical of today's players... that's why I love Barkley... if a player, or a team, sucks, Barkley will say they suck... he doesn't care what anyone thinks about what he says....he just calls it like he sees it.

(And I doubt that the "unwritten" rule at ESPN about not criticizing Jordan is "unwritten" any more... it's probably in everyone's contract by this time... Nike and Gatorade pay far too much in advertising dollars to ESPN for anyone there to say anything critical of Jordan, so they're probably not taking any chances any more).

No, otherwise he wouldn't have stated Kobe Bryant is better than Michael Jordan. It's an unwritten rule for ESPN employees to not threaten in any way Michael Jordan being the greatest player ever, due to endorsement contracts, etc.

However, he does sounds extremely fake when talking about the NBA...

Well, I don't think you have to criticize a player to state your opinion. I think, as a player, you can look at it 2 ways, positive or negative, and he always focus on the positive. I think we have gotten too used to guys criticizing players that we think that's what they should do, like Charles Barkley, but that's just his personality.

I agree in the Finals, when LeBron was missing shots he said "you gotta keep takin those shots".
