Why Do people Continuously Insist on Using the Flag button?

Question

and get people's accounts deleted.. Simply because they do not agree?
Do they actually believe this accomplishes something?


Reporting people is immature...
If you do not agree with something someones says .. what is so hard about ignoring them or walking away?

I have never used the report button and their are many people on here that i Do not agree with..

Is it because i am mature and adult enough to understand that one persons opinon is simply that.. a OPINION?

I think it is because sometimes people go to far. Asking a question is what this forum is all about. making racist comments or putting down a whole political group is not asking a question. If you want to rant against Liberals (or Conservatives) there are a million places to do so on the Internet. This is for questions. And even if it is more for discussion it should at least be something where every one is respected.

We both know some one who this morning posted a "question" that implied that any one who is a liberal does not know who there father is, this is insulting to a whole class of people and hurtful to those who are in that position. It is not a question.

Questions that ignore facts are not questions, when that same person posts that "Liberals do not care about the troops because they have no one serving" they are ignoring facts .

Believe me I know the same thing happens on the Liberal side to conservatives. I personally think it is our responsibility not Yahoo's to deal with these people. They hurt the whole forum and should be dealt with by the community

But if they just want to rant then go to a forum page and rant away.

Then you may want to follow your own advice. Very often the use of 'liberal' on this forum is essentially a slur and is in violation of the TOS. Try asking questions that are thought provoking, prompt debate, and aren't horribly one sided.

Beyond that there are plenty of posts that are sexually graphic, etc. that deserve flags, I find it fascinating that you would preach conservatism but never flag that.

Usually I have better things to do however I did report this one guy who posted a story about how he got off on killing people. Call me extreme if you like, but that seemed to begging for a flag.

That's pretty lame.

I have reported things in the past, but they are clear violations of the guidelines such as racism or pornography.

Other than that I wouldn't report anyone. The best thing you can do is either ignore them or show everyone how ignorant they are by using logic to make them look like fools.

Some people are soft skinned.

But there are truly people on here who have no concept of mature debate of the issue. One need not resort to name calling to make a point. As a matter of fact, it is counter productive to the argument. (Exceptions are of course warranted for the cyber-terrrorists roaming this forum.)

The only time I use the flag button is if it truly against the rules of Yahoo. I welcome everyone's opinion even if I don't agree with them all. That is what debate is all about.

My first instinct is to give u a flag on this one! LOL J/K who knows why , some people just cant stand to hear anything they dont agree with. I call them liberals but im shure there are other names as well.

Not everyone is as noble as you are. I have gotten violation notices for telling people I cannot understand their question. Sometimes the spelling and grammar are so bad, I really cannot understand it.

If you get flagged, contact Y! Answers and challenge the complainer.

The flag button (report abuse) was designed to prevent harassment and offensive speech. Now it is mainly used as a WMD, weapon of mass deletion.
