In my family, mom was the disciplinarian, so we never had to wait for dad to come home to get our bottoms spanked... But I know that it was different in many other families. Often the father was the disciplinarian, partly because that was his traditional role, partly because mom was regarded as "too soft", or because there was a conscious or subconscious good cop / bad cop role play going on. I think that the fact that the father is the sole disciplinarian and that children have to wait (sometimes for a whole day) to get punished by him is not good for child development. Punishment should be swift, and it should relate to the child, not to the role of a particular parent. And the father should not be the parent to be feared. So, mom should say "You have been naughty, now come with me, and I'll give you what you deserve." And if dad happens to be around, same for him.

My father was never the scary parent in my household. My mother was and whenever I heard "Wait till your mother gets home," I know I could expect a whole lot of yelling and a grounding!

Nothing....he was never home before midnight....and always out before I get up in the morning, but I remember him kissing me and trying to not wake me up.

One of three things
1. He'd yell at us, short and not-so-sweet
2. He'd spank us, short and really not-so-sweet
3. Worst of all... he'd lecture us, not short (over an hour at a time) and not sweet (same points over and over and over again... we'd rather take the spanking anyday!)

We'd eat dinner ^_^ No seriously we have dinner cause I could never eat dinner until my Dad got back from work and we eat as a family. lol

I got a server talking to, maybe a slap on my bottom, or I was grounded. What ever he did, I deserved it. I miss him so.

Nothing,,,and I mean nothing...ever......he was so mellow,he just smiled and said "hello dear" no matter what mom told him.
