The Democrats got lawful protection for the Communists.
In return, the Communist Party has been absorbed by the Democrat Party.
The Socialists & Communists are now in control of the Democrat Party.

Because communism is died with the fall of Russia. Now they are focusing on Socialist and the biggest socialist country China.

Because it was stupid. I mean burning books, letting the KKK and the America Nazi party get away with murdering other Americans (read about the Greensboro Massacre), and charging patriotic Americans with treason because they're not Republicans (read McCarthyism), is stupid.
You don't persecute people based on their politics.
That's something dictatorships do, not America.
I repeat people should be put in prison because of their politics.

you mean, why did we stop persecuting?
Becuase after the red scare, everyone realized that 99% of the people that got screwed by the anticommunistic court system weren't even communists or threats to the country.

God some of the answers you got are so dumb. First off who was President then Truman and sanctioned those hearings TRUMAN. And what was Truman a DEMOCRAT.
