I was thinking the other day…
Theoretically, there are an Infinite number of places in which a person could exist.
However, there is only One place in which said person does exist.
So, wouldn’t it be a 1/∞ chance of said person existing in that one place?

Of course, probability is based on a random scenario. So does that mean, that since we do exist in the place that we are in…
Does that mean it isn’t random that we are in that one place?
So if it isn’t random, what is it?

0/0 is what you're looking for.

This would be a good question for the physics section. We are energy and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. What you are talking about is random consistency, or controlled chaos, I think. I agree there are an infinite number of places in which a person could exist! The reason it is said there is only one place where one does exist is because we as the viewers can only see that one place we can not view the other places. A simple test to kinda view the other places is to take a mirror and angle it in another mirror and our image will go on into infinity! It is all about reflection, and light, and continuity of matter. Yes there are a lot of questions here and not a whole lot of answers!

its a good question. i don't think infinity can be measured, so you can't divide 1 by it, because it never ends. you'd have to keep dividing forever.
but i get your point... but that's saying that existence is infinite. i don't think its possible for anything to be infinite. yeah, numbers go on for infinity, but people created numbers, like we created language (things existed, but we named them, we numbered them). 1/∞ isn't a measurement, and for us to be one in infinity, that would make us nothing. also if you try to divide one by infinity, then we would be a part of infinity, and by separating us from it doesn't do anything to it, but it would make us nothing.
of course, then there's the variable of time, and space, but since we can't measure, or really understand those, then its hard putting them in an equation. we don't know if time will ever stop, or if it ever began, but if it is infinite, then that makes us even less.

for the second part, i believe that probability is limited. i don't believe that anything is completely infinite... and i don't think you can really put existence into an equation, because humans don't know enough about it.
i think its random to a certain point. like, our existence may be random, may not be random, but our actions aren't random, because we control them.

its pretty a complicated thing

Theoretical Physicists tell us that we can actually exist in more than one place. I don't pretend to understand that fully but thats what they say. Time and space is not as linear nor as predictable as we used to think.

Not quite random, like Brownian motion. We shape our lives to some extent, and choose where we live.
