I think you're confusing some facts here.
Anyway, I feel Equal Justice Under the Law applies to all, from my town council up to President Bush or whomever holds that office.
So, my answer is No, they should not be exempt.

Early in the formation of the American government, congress granted itself amazing perks. One of them is that they can't be tied up with minor laws. They also believed that they had the right to define everything including the right to declare war. Interestingly, congress has not declared war since WWII. They gave that power up with the budgeting process, and since Marbury vs Madison, they gave up the right to define the law (the supreme court can now invalidate any act of congress). So lets be thankful they can avoid minor criminal charges considering how much power they used to have. By the way, Bush's approval rating is at 29%, congress is at 23%!!!

I think that if they commit a crime and break the law, they should go to jail just like everybody else! As it is they are overpaid for what they do! They should have to live now as they did when our country was new. They ONLY received room and board,( a place to live or sleep, and food in their belly!) Our congressmen and senators certainly did their jobs without wondering where to meet their mistress, or how to misspend our tax dollars,
Oh well, I rant!!! sorry.

Absolutely not! They should be held accountable for their actions and should be expected to higher standards of actions. They are hired to represent us, not to rule us.
