My parents wanted me to divorce my ex-husband because he was controlling, abusive and money-minded. They observed these issues and this came from information that I gave them.

I see other parents encouraging their children to stay together for the sake of their children.

Which is the right way to go?

WHen it comes to parents, ultimately they want their children to be happy. If there are grandchildren involves, they want them to be happy, safe, and secure. This is often the reason behind parents supporting/not supporting their childs divorce.

Your parents want you to be happy. If you love being abused, then stay.

Your parents want you to understand they have your back 100% and are willing to fully support and unconditionally love you. They have high expectations for you and don't want to see you get hurt.
