Hi Sally!

First: Put your stuff aside. Get out your favorite things...the things that are forever.... that calm you.... make you smile and feel safe. Once you've got 'you' back... head out to a bookstore or a library and start flipping through great works of art... or tear out photos from magazines or colors that make you feel great! Make your eyes 'see ' the beauty.. of children.. or flowers.. or buildings.. or sunsets. Get back to 'your place' .... and let everything go. There are several books by Julia Cameron that you might read... my favorite is 'The Artist's Way" as well as a wonderful journal/workbook. She endorses writing in longhand.. 3 pages every morning... to unlock the blocks. Just remember..that you're in charge (not the block).... that you are amazing... you have so much to give.... you can do this.... you know you can!

Well, what I do when I get into a big artist block (my friend suggested this and oddly it worked) is to ask some people you know for the first random word, or phrase, that comes out of their head. My friend said "Ninja platypus" SO thats what you draw, or base your drawing off of. Now, I'm into cartoons myself, mainly people, so drawing a platypus didn't seem like a very appealing idea to me. But just try it, it might work. Even if it comes out looking funny, it might spark some ideas or interest. The most random words or phrases make for the best creative ideas, so just ask around, write them down, and sit down with it. Mix and match the words if you like till you see something that makes you laugh or sounds fun. Don't take the words or picture you make seriously though and try to make it perfect, or else it might just make you frustrated and that won't help at all.

Sorry if this doesn't help at all, 's just my method of getting out of an artist block. Figured I might as well share it. >_<

One way I get out of an artist block is one either stop doing art for a while, or another is I like to look at some of my old art and I sometimes get inspired by that. I am often a perfectionist, and I would recreate my old works to try to make it better.
One last way I like to do is just write instead of trying to draw. Sometimes when we write it helps open up ideas whether its for writing or drawing. I have a sketch book with nothing but doodles and a separate one with just words. It could be random words or words I see and hear. I often use the thesaurus to get ideas from common words.

What I usually do is take a brief break and look at some of my old stuff or go through my sketches. I also go to a bookshop or library and look through books with artists work, or even better, visit an art gallery and be inspired. One thing that also helps me is take my dog out for a long walk and let my mind wander in the process, and try and come with ideas!

when i have an artistic block i just allow myself to draw something silly or odd and it gets me back in the mood and unblocks me. So allow yourself to paint something completely out of your head, something outrageous and silly.

first off remember what you give your attention to grows so you have put yourself into the "I cant do it mode" get a few pieces of paper and dont think about what you are going to draw...just draw let it flow....dont think about how it will turn out...let your mind get out of the way and let your creativity flow out...dont judge it...if you have to...close your eyes...think about how you used to love it....see yourself in your mind doing exactly the pic you want without difficulty....and relax...no pressure...have fun and create...you will be drawing masterpieces in no time at all....hope it helps

First of all give it to your higher power ask your higher power to reveal to you what it is that he or she wants you to draw. Ask your higher power to let you see it, feel it, and to borrow your higher powers hands and mind to make it appear on paper the way he or she would have it. You are trying to hard let go and let your higher power do the work and watch what happens. Good luck.
