If it is a girl betta and a boy betta, and they want to do the thing, then yes! lol. Yes, any betta can if they are willing. Interesting question by the way.

If by type you mean color then absolutely, this is done all the time to get the different colorations. If you're talking fin types (crown tail and veil tail) then yes, they'll breed because they're the same species but I'm not really sure what you'll get in the end. As far as crossbreeding species (splendens with something else) I don't know if it will work or not, someone else will have to answer that.

You CAN, but the babies won't look very nice.
