In all honesty, you should never have to add anything to a well prepared, expensive steak. Whoever made it knows it's best left alone. But, everyone has different tastebuds and you might not like it without your ketchup. So, it's up to you if you want to put ketchup on it. Please taste it before you do though, because you just might change your mind on adding such a condiment. :)

It's a free country. If you want to ruin a good steak with ketchup, that's your choice.

Eat it however you like it, and don't let anyone tell you it's wrong. The right thing is to eat it however YOU like it! It's your meal, right! It's not ruined if it's the way you like it.

I like my steaks with just a little McCormack's lemon pepper seasoning and a dot of butter or margarine (or whatever fat is already on it), and if that isn't available, I put a little black pepper and squeeze lemon on it. I love it that way. I don't like heavy sauces and condiments on meat.

That is offensive, and is impugns the character of the chef who prepares it. It is almost like asking is it alright to pick my nose at the table.

a good steak should never need anything on it. It should be tasty without any sauce of anykind. It should be juicy and yummy without anyhelp.
