Nope. I was born a human being. So were you. This is reality, not Pokemon. Evolution occurs at the level of the population, not the individual.

We have monkey ancestors, though, tens of millions of years ago. (And by the way, Jim above is dead wrong. If I showed him a picture of that common ancestor, he'd immediately say "that's a picture of an old world monkey, unidentified species." I don't know how he got his "top contributor" badge.)

Today's monkey populations are indeed evolving, as always. The biggest selection pressure on monkey populations is the ability to co-exist with humankind.

Evolution DOES NOT say that we were monkeys before we turned into humans.

The theory of evolution states that humans and monkeys share a common ancestor... like a great-great-great-great (forever great) grandparent, making humans and monkeys very distant cousins.

If you're wondering how this might be possible, you can see differences in all primates. From the primitive, less evolved, loris -- to the more evolved orangutan or chimpanzee.

For further information on the evolution of homo-sapien, check out Australopithecus, homo-erectus and Neanderthal.

I have a question. Who is telling all you folks that humans evolved from monkeys? If you sat through a biology course that included evolution you should know better. Unless the teacher was a Creationist or just plan did not understand biology and evolution.

Humans did NOT evolve from monkeys!!! I have repeated this many times. So have many of the other people that have replied to this question. I am sure, they, as well as I, are really annoyed that so many people failed to understand even a basic point in evolution.

Humans and higher primates have a common ancestor. That ancestor was NOT a monkey.

Humans and other primates share a COMMON ANCESTOR. It is not the same thing as coming from modern day monkeys (which are not the same as the monkey ancestors they came from).

Humans are primates. More specifically we are apes. There are 5 great apes: Humans, Chimpanzees, Bonobos, Orangutans, and Gorillas. Think of Evolution as being like a tree where you start with one origin (the trunk) and it branches off into many different species (branches).

NO-ONE EVER said monkeys turned into humans, except a few ignorant Creationists trying to "muddy the waters" of common sense. Your question is a bit like asking, "If Spaniels and Dachsunds are descended from wild dogs, how come there are still wild dogs?" It's a stupid question.

Or "If bread was really made from flour and water, and I have some bread, how come there are still flour and water in the world?"

Monkeys and humans clearly have common ancestors.

ugh... as quickly as back Daisy. No the place interior the thought of evolution does it say "guy developed from monkeys", what you're relating is the Demonstrative style, to help paint a image of ways the Evolutionary technique works. it particularly is actual they seem to be someone-friendly ancestor, yet so is like, 1 / 4 of the animal kingdom. you have been recommended, it is your option to settle for it, or persist on your fable.

Well actually they are NOW finding Human remains that are older then anything they have found. They are thinking that maybe we were put here on earth as workers and then just left here. You might think I'm saying something out of a movie or something but i actually seen this on a history channel. Research it. You will be surprised..

They can say anything they want including we came from monkey's,but the thought of being descended from a banana sucking, knuckle dragging, butt scratching, flea bitten, tree swinging ape is not a pleasant thought.
