That's the best way to go. If you stay in Homestead, you're only 20 minutes from Key Largo. I know for instance, that the Floridian Hotel in Homestead is only $69.00-$79.00 per night, while a room in the Keys will run you well over a hundred. Most are about $150.00 per night, and all you do is use the bed and shower.

Well, my question is this... are you coming in the near future? Note that it IS hurricane season down here (I live about 30 minutes north of Homestead), and I've heard countless horror stories about vacationers in the Keys who are in hotels when a storm is coming. There are a few hotels in southern Homestead that are cheaper than Key Largo. However, if you are coming solely for vacation and the beach, just stay in Key Largo. If you are coming to visit family, then stay on the mainland. It'll save you loads of trouble. Also, this time of year, a lot of the nice hotels are pretty booked.

Hope I helped!

Homstead of Florida city is the best way to go. The money you will spend on gas from Cutler Ridge you should just stay in the keys.

Cutler Ridge is not only too far, but the neighborhood is unsafe & generally sucks. If you must save $$ stay in Homestead/Florida City.
