he is one of those small 1 1/2 turtle (RES) i have him in a little captivity (plastic carrying cage) inside there are little rocks that form a land on on side, there is water less than 1 inch high so on the other side is a little pond which he likes to be in. on the 2nd day the water is a bit foggy i think because of its poop and whatnot. how long should i clean it? and how much should i feed it?

the food i feed it is little dried shrimp (bought with the turtle) it says feed it 2-3 times a week as much as he can eat in only 1 min. but i didnt get that so i feed him a little now and then.

Please move him to the right sized tank as soon as possible. A 10 gallon tank would be OK, but a 20 gallon would be better.

Bigger tanks are better in many ways, including being easier to clean.

The diet is wrong as well.

I am sorry to tell you this, but most of what people say about caring for turtles is wrong, and it sounds like you got some bad information.

You should spot clean and remove old food every day. Sanitize the entire cage and accessories every two weeks. It's important that you keep up with cleaning, turtles can stink pretty badly if you don't.

In that size tank it should be cleaned AT LEAST once a day. If you want your turtle to be healthy and live.....you NEED a bigger tank and a filtration system for it. Without those things plus the right kind of light (UBV) and a basking light your poor little turtle won't live very long. =(
The turtle needs greens...dandelion,lettuces (no iceburg)
It also needs pellet food...try Reptomin.

Please take Madkins' advice and get your turtle the proper setup. The previous advice you received about these turtles only living a week or so will come true if you don't rectify this situation soon.
