well by the content, yes...sometimes though when people use CAPS it signifies anger or the need for attention or to be heard...

If you mean by the content, yeah sometimes. Some people must STAY in a bad mood cause their Q's & A's are always mean or rude. Others are very cheery quite a lot. It's nice diversity.

yeah i definatly think so- if they give a short answer with a lot of mistakes then you can assume that they are in a rush, if they use a lot of random smiley faces or exclamation marks then obviously they are excited or happy, and if you can actually see the person type and you see them taping at the keys with their pointer fingers, like my english teacher, you can tell that they have not quite warmed up to the whole technology thing-:) by the way, i like your pic/avatar it made me laugh-in a good way

People can type in the same format all the time, but I suppose chances are that if something's in Caps Lock, either they are angry or they just didn't bother pressing Caps Lock again.

Maybe. You can't completely tell their mood, but it is quite possible to get close to the truth.

Either dirrectly by what they write or indirectly, whether they are YELLING or MAKING A POINT, if they use "..." they are comtemplative an maybe a little sad...
...and confused, and of course the smileys :) : D :O or if they laugh out loud lol.

It's a so-so sorta thing.
I tend to use smileys a lot because I don't want people to take me the wrong way.
