Whenever I duck underwear, I always need to hold (or close) my nose using my right hand. I was wondering if any you guys get water up your nose like me. I asked my family about it, but one of my cousins (he's twelve I think) says it's scientifically impossible for water to travel into your nose when you hold your breath while swiming underwater. There were other swimmers that hold their nose similar to what I do but I don't remember hearing the answer to the question I asked my aunt about those swimmers. Please help! I feel like a mutant!

Oh I remember those nose-pluging items... but I'm not sure if they really work. Anyway, my cousin also told me to blow out the water that's going into my noise but it appears that more water goes into my noise than out of it. Sorry for making a complicated question.

its perfectily normal. I get water up my nose all the time. when your swimming just blow out of your nose. you'll make bubble's that tickle. I used to do the same thing but as a competive swimmer I had to learn really fast how to blow. it takes a little while to get used to it but once you master it you'll find its so much easier. have fun swimming!

Yes unless you are blowing water out of your nose when you are underwater or you are holding your nose you get water up there. I blow bubbles out of my nose to keep the water from bothering me, and it helps a lot!

sure, it's normal. To prevent it you can do a couple of things, first just slowly blow the tiniest bit of air thru your nose when your head goes under. You don't even have to blow enough air that it bubbles out, just enough to keep the water out. Or, you can buy a "nose plug" at most sporting goods stores.

wow... I'd have that checked out if I were you... Don't even go swimming again till you've seen your doctor.
