Ouch SDS, I'm guessing you forgot your menstrual pills again? You don't know me, nor do you know where I live..so I'll ignore your rant. Where I come from, they're pretty much rude and forceful. Once again, I wouldn't expect you to know that..or anything for that matter.

If I knew it was Jehova's Witnesses on the other side of the door, I would not open it (nor am I tempted). I would just ignore them until they went away. However, as it is, you can't really know who it is so when I open the door, I listen politely, tell them no, and then close the door.

I am tempted because I don't like to be rude, but they're like used car salesmen sometimes trying to sell their brand of religion and their brand of God to you and I think choosing a religion or just being spiritual should be left up to each person without the persuasion of others. Normally I just don't have the time to listen to them so I just don't bother to answer the door.

At times, a question such as this will elicit dozens and dozens of elaborate schemes to spare a householder an unwanted conversation with Jehovah's Witness door-to-door ministers.

All such schemes are a complete and utter waste of time!

Many of your neighbors have figured it out, and it's really quite simple:
1. Open the door
2. Smile (optional)
3. Ask "Jehovah's Witness?"
4. Receive affirmation
5. Say, "Thank you, but I'm not interested"
6. Gently close the door (slamming is rude, but your prerogative)

Please recognize that Jehovah's Witnesses are not primarily interested in converts, but in working to obey Jesus' command to preach (Matt 24:14; Matt 28:19,20).

A little while ago, when I first moved into the neighborhood, I was doing the brakes on my car. I was in old jeans and an old heavily used t-shirt. I had Led Zeppelin on the stereo, a case of beer in the cooler and a cold one of the hood. They got to the top of my driveway, kind of stood there for a couple seconds and left. Haven't had one at my door since.

No one slams his fist on my door and I have found the Witnesses to be very peaceful. I do not hide from anyone in my house. If I want them to leave I tell them to leave politely. And they go. It must be tough to be such an ineffective person. Tell me, when you walk into a room, does anyone know you are there?

What's funny is that I started to dose back off the other day and would have been late for work (I might have missed half the day). But they knocked on the door and woke me up just in time!

My advice, turn out the lights and head for the basement! Whatever you do ... don't open the door!!!!

They just knock here, nothing violent. But I admit, I'm not crazy about them waking me up at 8 am on Saturday.

I open it very quick and send them packing in a hurry forcibly if necessary . I do however have a no soliciting sign on my door and expect them to read it and believe in that .

I open the door before they repeatedly bang on it. We have many interesting discussions about the credibilty of the Watchtower.
