I have close to $3,000. I have a bike for transportation, & school is very close. Should I A) get a cheap, old, & dependable car so I can get my license, which is about $1,500 or more, or B) take a summer vacation for my b-day to NYC to see my favorite singer Aaliyah's resting place & pay tribute on the 6th yr. of her passing? & just rent a car & practice on it to get my license-which both together will be less than $1,000.

I think that going to NYC may be a waste of your money. Save it for a creature comfort for home - better bed, nice desk, etc. You may want to spend some of the money on one of those driving schools. I know you already know how to drive, but maybe at a school, you will be able to use the school car to take your test. That way you will have your license without the expense of gas and insurance.

I'd go with B, because you'll still have money left over and how often will you get to see NYC and Aaliyah's resting place? If you don't need a car now, then there is not need to purchase one.

Option C could be invest your money in something like a money market account or a Certificate of Deposit or something so that your money can grow and you can have both the trip and the car and still have money left over.

Well you yourself cannot purchase a vehicle without a driver's license. I would say that if you can get along without a car for the time being save the money to get a better car for when you get your driver's license. Until then are you able to practice on a parent or a friends vehicle? If so do that. The trip to Aaliyah's grave can wait. there will be plenty of chances to go down there. Invest your money the smart way and save save save. that way you can get a better car.

i know that b would be very fun and ur probly gonna give best answer to someone who says b but if u really think about it in the long run a will be way cheaper. cuz once u get out of skool youll have to by a car NEway. but if u do choose b u should travel by bus(if u live kinda close like VA or something) to save money. then youll probly only use like 600 dollars

Get the car and let Aaliyah rest in peace. You have to go in order of importance.

Save the money. Neither of those things that you listed are necessary. You will be needing the money for something more important lately. Hope no one in your family gets sick too soon, though.

You have to have your license to rent a car.
