I just bought a tarantula from a reputable dealer at a reptile show. Unfortunately, he didn't know the species name of what he was selling as a "copper tarantula." What little I can find on the internet tells me that it may be a Paraphysia manicata, which is also given the common name of Chilean copper tarantula. Does anyone know if there is another species being marketted under this name?

There is a dwarf species of tarantula with the common name "copper tarantula" from South America that resembles a small more intensely coloured Chilean Rose Hair, its latin name is Paraphysa scrofa. There was some discussion about them on one of the spider forums. Very attractive spider, apparently they show up in shipments of rose-hairs.
