Coleman had a slightly better career SB success percentage (80.9% to Rickey's 80.7%), and their best years are (unsurprisingly) about equal too. I'd give the nod to Rickey based upon sheer volume, but if someone wants to argue that Coleman really was better at base stealing, I'm not gonna dispute it.

Coleman was really fast but didn't have the longevity and track record of Ricky Henderson. Steal totals aside, look no further than the 1989 ALCS against the Blue Jays when Rickey was with the A's. Ricky's speed was one of the main reasons why the A's went on to win the World Series. He rattled the pitcher's concentration and stole bases at ease.
A great speedster is someone who could do all of that.
Rickey's a sure fire hall of famer. Vince Coleman flamed out and sadly is probably best known for throwing that fire cracker at some Mets fans...

the answer is easy. Ricky Henderson!! Only two things need to be looked at. Who had the most?? Ricky by alot and who had best percentage?? Ricky by alot........lol The guy that said lou brock must be smoking the same thing as coleman was.....Lou Brocks caught stealing percentage is very high. Brock isnt in top 5 of best basestealers. 1. for sure henderson 2 and 3 are coleman and bonds. Bonds has very good caught stealing percentage over career 513 steals and is 4 for 4 this year.

Not only was Ricky Henderson a better base stealer than Vince Coleman, he was a much better leadoff hitter.

Vince Coleman, when he wasnt too stoned.
The all time greatest, though was Lou Brock. He was not only fast but he knew how to steal a base, get into position to steal more and rattle the heck out of the pitcher. This in a time when stealing bases was not yet an art.
