I have 2 baby red eared sliders. I bought one of those lamps that clamp right on to the side of the tank with a 60watt light buld--the ones that they sell in the pet shops that are especially for reptiles--is that light sufficient enough for them?

It can be... there are three temps you need to be aware of: air temp (house temp), water temp, and basking temp. Air temp should be comfortable. Water temp is affected by the air temp, but you can raise the water temp with a water heater. The water temp should be around 75 F for hatchling RES, up to 80F. The basking area should be at least 15 F more than the water temp.

A 60W bulb or any bulb cab achieve this by bringing it closer or further away. A good basking temp is between 90-100F. Get a thermometer to measure your temps. I think you're doing a good job. Good luck.

see im not going to say yes or no. its really up to you. make sure you have two thermometers. one on each side. experiment with the bulbs. see which brings the approiate heat to your tank. some lights may make my tank hot but that is because my tank is in a hotter room than yours is in. just experiment and come up with your own answer... best luck

For light, yes.

For heat, probably not. The water should be heated to about 75-80F, usually using in-tank heaters and guards.
