I am moving to a property near that area. Is it generally a safe area? Are there any particular places near there that I should avoid to go to?

Very safe area. The nearest rough place is nearly 2 miles away.
Muswell Hill is a lively cosmopolitan area full of trendy bars and restaurants.

Muswell Hill is great. I wouldn't recommend hanging around Wood Green (where I live!) alone at night as there are a couple of gangs, but I haven't had any problems. Besides, when you live in Muswell Hill, why would you want to go to Wood Green anyway?!
Hornsey is nice, Crouch End great, Bounds Green is pretty nice as is Alexandra Palace. I guess it's like any other area, there are good and bad parts, but you should be fine. Lovely shops in Muswell Hill as well.

I think you will find it a very safe area. Also the surrounding area too.The nearest places I would say are not so great are Archway,Wood Green and Finsbury Park but all apart from FP are still relatively safe compared to many areas in London.
