can somebody tell me who is the woman in the Logo de la République française?

Her name is Marianne, she is supposed to represent the homeland as a mother (in french "patrie" is feminine), both protective and a warrior, feeding her children (which is why she can be shown with a bare breast like a breast feeding mother) and secular. The bonnet is a symbol of the Revolution. The name, low class at that time, was a pointed reminder that the revolution ended up the power of the higher classes.

I think she is Marianne, the symbol of the French republic.

Page 823 of 'The Outline of History' by H. G. Wells refers to these national symbols as Tribal Gods - for which men would die - of the 19th Century.

Others are John Bull of Great Britain (man), Britannia (woman cariciature), Germania (woman representing Germany) and Cathleen ni Houlihan (woman representing Ireland). You would have to see the drawings. Bande Mataram of India might also be one (page 825 of the same book).
