Can anyone explain to me the significance of the decimal point and the zero which comes after the 4. I believe I'm right in saying that this is the 4th film in the 'Diehard' series so I can understand the significance of the number 4 but not the 4.0.
Is there going to be a follow-up movie called something like 'Diehard 4.3 or perhaps 4.8? I have a feeling however that we are now being hit by an equivalent of 'political correctness' in the cyber-world, which I would call 'cyber-correctness', where it is not deemed correct for a whole number to stand on its own without a decimal point and a zero. Heaven help us all.

The actual title of the film is "Live Free or Die Hard" and Die Hard 4, Die Hard 4.0, and several other names were just working titles. Directors/producers sometimes use working titles during filming to delay the public finding out the actual title. It's all part of their promotional plans. =)

Although I stand to be corrected, I believe there is no real significance of the .0 after the 4. It's probably something they just added to one of the working titles due to so many technological terms becoming a part of our ever-changing pop culture.

While there may be yet another Die Hard (I don't want to start rumors, but you never know when they'll stop), any further sequels are not likely to have 4.2 or 4.5 in the title.

The 4.0 refers to the computer hacking storyline in the film.

It is being taken as an IT reference, similar to Jake 2.0 (TV Series) about a man infected with nanobots and given an "upgrade". Computer software upgrades are generally given a version release number and change when there are upgrades, i.e. my version of Internet Explorer is 7.0.

The film is titled "Live Free or Die Hard" in the US, however as the phrase "Live Free or Die" is principally American, it has been given the title Die Hard 4.0 outside of the USA.

The whole point is - its Bruce Willis, in his vest again most likely. With his muscles, pulling glass out of his feet, sweating and say mother flipper. I dont care what number it is. I shall leave the pontification about numerology etc to the chaps and just enjoy the view! lol

I thought the 4.0 was used in relation to the storyline. Which is about computer hacking.
