Have you considered a Bed and Breakfast? My bride to be and I will be staying at The Fleur-De-Lys Mansion on our wedding night. It is located in St. Louis city, just a few minutes away from downtown. If you want to look south of the city of St. Louis, there are two great wine towns, St. Genevieve and St. James, both of which are within an hour and a half of the city and would be great for a honeymoon.

I was born and raised in St. Louis but now live in Georgia. I recently went home and St. Louis has a few nice hotels. Try the Embassy Suites Hotel, The Adams Mark Hotel or the Millennium Hotel.

I can think of five hotels in Downtown St. Louis you should check out:
1. Millennium Hotel
2. Hilton
3. Hyatt Regency in Union Station
4. Renaissance Grand Hotel (who deserve a ton of kudos for having a Kinko's that's open late on Saturdays)
5. Holiday Inn Select
As for KC, here's the list:
1. Hyatt Regency Crown Center
2. Sheraton OP (used to work there)
3. Holiday Inn Mission-OP
4. Marriott Muehlebach Tower
(notice the Westin Crown Center is not on this list - I don't recommend it for honeymoons)

If you're going to STL, stay away from the Millennium -- not so great. The Drury Plaza Hotel, Renaissance Grand and Westin are very nice.
I don't know about KC.

In St. Louis, the Westin and the Ritz-Carlton are both very nice and luxurious.
