My sister and I boiled the tap water and filled all the bottles that we had. Then just let it sit out on the counter so it will always be at room temp. This way even if on the go you can just have your bottles of water and add the formula when you need it, and it is all ready to go no refrigeration needed. It makes thinks much easier! They sell things to put the formula in in three seperated slots so you can have the formula all measured out before hand or you can just keep a can of formula in your diaper bag. It is so much easier than making up the bottles ahead of time with the formula and you don't have to worry about an ice pack in your diaper bag either!

We got one of those filters to run it threw just to be on the safe side. Never any problems.
Now a tip for you, start at room temp. Then slowly lower the temp over a few weeks. That way you will be able to grab a bottle out of the fridge and give it to the baby straight. At 2am when the baby fusses it is so much nicer to grab one and say here. The baby and you get less upset so both can go back to sleep right away. One of ours we started in the Hospital at room temp and when she was 3 weeks old she took it from the fridge and was very happy.

Cities are required to publish results of theri water testing to prove it is safe for drinking. When it is not for some reason they MUST issue alerts. I always used tap water once I switched my first born to bottles at 4 1/2 months.

The big dilemma is that babies are not getting fluoride. They recommend using bottled kids water. Do not use well water.

I used tap water from day one. Tap water can help with fluoride. But we live in an area with exceptionally good clean water. I would check with a doctor in your area. I would boil it until you have a chance to check, just to be safe. Good Luck.

As long as you don't have well water. Well water can have more contaminants in it. Even with regular city water, I'd get a water filter....
