I grew up in the age of compact LPs players, and they really had good stereo sounds, and the separate systems: receivers, turntables for LPs [later the cd players]. tape cassette players, speakers and headphones. But I have the feeling they are going way to the museum. With the computer, satelite radio and ipods, it looks like. What do you think?
P.D.: I listen to my classical music cds in a dvd player connected to an amplifier.

I don't think so, not yet. I still have my 1979 receiver and a number of LP's. My records are all stored in anti static ziplocks. Vinyl is not dead.Look at turntables by Sota and Linn. There are other high end manuf. too. Music is still recorded in stereo and good equipment will be in demand as long as this is so. Many people do use their entertainment centers to listen to music but the quality is usually far below what even a mid level stereo system can provide.
