The only people who do that are hyperconservatives who like to pretend that "liberal" is some sort of dirty word, when in fact it is the exact OPPOSITE that is true. The REAL dirty word is "conservative" when applied to social issues (but not to fiscal ones).

Social liberals, also known as progressives, are the strongest DEFENDERS, across the board, of all of the individual freedoms and personal liberties that we enjoy, and need to preserve in a free America. They oppose censorship, are steadfast defenders of the right of girls and women NOT to be FORCED to gestate UNwanted pregnancies to term (which would be a 9-month-long form of rape), and of EQUAL workplace, housing, and marital rights for gays.

Fascinatingly, the "conservatives" -- who usually are doltish RRR cultists -- have NO FACTS in their debating arsenal that they could bring to bear. It's all emotionalism, scare tactics, propaganda,and empty rhetoric with them. But then, that's always been bigotry's downfall.

Next -- We're talking about SOCIAL liberals, here -- the ones who defend personal liberties. Which has NOTING to do with *fiscal* liberalism/socialism. Nice TRY, though.

If the Left is ever to restore the limited amount of social progress that has been accomplished in the U.S. in the 20th century, it is going to have to take a tougher stance against the rabid right and their loudest loudmouths. We need to end the compromise and the dialogue and take the fascists on. We need to get in their faces. We need to shout them down where they live. And, we need to completely shut them down wherever they have the obscene nerve to open their filthy mouths. As the they are so often want to claim, "Freedom isn't free." That's right...so the Left in this country needs to start fighting for the civil and human rights that the Repugnants have stolen from the people.

I completely agree with your point. These mogul monsters and profiteers have long been and still are responsible for the deplorable condition of our own nation and our value in world view. Combined with the "rapture rights" and other antediluvian thugs who would stifle the very progress of their fellow man they've done little but create mayhem. They've diverted so much attention as well as funds to sponsor their own brand of terrorism they have created a social vacuum here in their own country. This "black hole" of their invention has and is sucking the resources of our nation even as the Middle East sand sucks the blood of our finest. These pathetic imbeciles could care less for any other prospect other than their own pockets. They have no value of social and economic concerns of the average American and have reduced the public school system to a shamble. They don't tolerate the educated for they fear an enlightened society.

Even though social conservatives are a minority in our country, they definitely have the money and power to drown out all the millions of people who disagree with their simple-minded agenda to pull us back into the dark ages of the christian crusades. No. I don't consider speaking out against control of the American people, by Socialists calling themselves Liberals, whining. I consider it, Americans trying to continue to stay free, having choices, and keeping their RIGHTS, granted us, and other future Americans, by our forefathers who fought, died, cried, and got maimed, for a simple belief that people are good enough, right enough, strong enough, loving enough, to rule their own lives, make right choices for themselves, and their children. Socialists, and Liberals want those rights taken from us. Would you like to live with the fact that our forefathers, who fought against government, and tyranny, to have died for NOTHING? I cannot live with that. The Gentlemen who signed the Declaration of Independence didn't die for Socialism. The Russians, in their Civil War did that. Where did it get them? Where has Socialism got Korea? What is happening to the Chinese People? Most of them are starving. Happy Socialism!

I respectfully disagree. Political Correctness is the biggest form of censorship out there. It goes against the very tenants of free speech.

Progressives are just another word for socialists. If that is where your political leanings are, fine. Just don't call me a bigot for not wanting to live in a socialist country.

I also think it is very funny that those on the left continue to take conservative complaints against liberals and use them. Like your statement of conservatives having only emotional arguments and the like and using scare tactics....The 90's were full of "if you vote for Republicans they will take away your kids, food stamps, right to "choose", burn down your churches, and much more.
