My in laws are trying to veto my baby boy's name because they say it sounds too feminine. They think it is feminine because they say it has lynn in it when actually it doesn't! What do you think?

First off, my nephew's name is Rylan Markus. There is nothing feminine about this name. Nobody around here mistakes his name for a girl's name.
Second all, it shouldn't matter what your in laws think. It isn't their child. It's your's and your spouse's. Eventually, they'll get used to the idea of what you decide to call your child. And if they don't, then oh well. The choice a child's name is solely up to the parents, not the grandparents. Tell them this. I looked it up for you and this is what I found:
The name is Rylan details-
Gender: BOY
Meaning: Country of cereal grass
Origin: English
Categories: Canadian, American
Pronunciation: (RY lan) [ Guide ]
Form of: Ryland
I personally love your choice! Good luck with this.

Rylan Meaning

I personally hate this name... despite having 2 cousins name their boys this. I have no idea where this name came from, but I wish it would go away!

When pronounced, it does sound like Rye-lynn by most people. If you want to have it pronounced with an -LAN at the end, be prepared for 18 years of correcting and frustrataion. Rylan can look forward to 80+ years of correcting and frustration. (side note... One Rylan I know is a Rye-Lynn, the other is a Rye-LAN, but I cannot for the life of me remember which is which.)

Are you sure there are no other names that you like? This is a really really trendy name right now, so you've just dated your son for the future (50 years from now, everyone will know which decade he was born - just like we can for Jennifers). As much as I hate siding with In-Laws, I think they've made a valid point. However, ultimately, it is your decision.

I thought Rylan was a girls name. Sorry. I didn't know it was a boys name. Just listen when you pair it with a girly middle name...

Rylan Elizabeth
Rylan Paige
Rylan Claire
Rylan Alexandria

I think Rylan does sound too feminine for a boy for two reasons. First we are seeing more girls named Ryan, and this is just one letter off. Second the "lan" ending of this name sounds a lot like "lyn" or "lin" endings that we see frequently in girls' names, like Caitlyn/Caitlin.

Rylan is actually one variant form of the name Ryland, and by adding the "d" to this name it is decidedly more masculine in my opinion. I knew a tall, handsome guy in college name Ryland and I think it's a really cool name!

I think Rylan is awesome! I love it! It's very boyish. I think it COULD go either way, but more for a boy. What is the middle name? I like Rylan Isaiah or Rylan Avery. Very good choice!

Good luck!

My friend's son's name is Rylan. It never was my favorite but i don't think it's feminine. If you are nervous, put a very masculine middle name. Your in laws are not having your child. i didn't care what my parents or in laws wanted. It's not their child.
