My math skills are very rusty so help me out, please. Ten degrees rising south to north is average rise. Will this affect the direct ratio method? The tree itself has a five degree list to the east. Thank you for Conan-Doyle.

Yes, the direction of the tree, the direction of the sun.. all these affect the shadow. What I wrote in answer to your first question was valid for a vertical tree with a well defined top, and a level flat ground.
