With all due respect, unless your mom is the one going through the 9 months pregnancy and the many hours of painful labor and delivery, she doesn't get a vote. She had her time of naming children when she named you (and whatever siblings you have). This is now your time.
I think the name you've picked is great. But it doesn't matter what I or anyone else think. This is YOUR child, and as long as you and your husband are happy with it, that's all that matters. Your family is now you, your husband and whatever children you produce. Your parents and siblings have become your extended family. Draw the boundaries now before Mom gets to thinking she'll have a say in every decision you and your husband are confronted with.
P.S. I think it's fantastic that you want to honor your husband and brother by including their names in your son's. As for those above me who say Landon is too trendy or they don't like it, I say, "pah!" It's a different name without being out-in-left-field wierd. Do what makes you and your husband happy, dear. : )

Drop the Landon.
Michael David MacKinnon is a great name, honoring two of the men in your life. Unless you are a devotee of "Little House on the Prairie" and love Michael Landon, I'm not sure why you would choose this name. Waaaaay too trendy of a name. If your husband's first name is David, then make it a middle name - or else consider David Jr (DJ) as your son's name.

save the David for the next baby...or if your not gonna have another one just drop it..or choose another name that fits well with Landon. Landon David doesnt sound good. and Landon is a beautiful name! Landon Michael MacKinnon is totally cool! love it!

I immediately thought of Michael Landon (Pa, Little House on the Prairie), a great actor, a bit of a looker and appeared to be a genuine guy. You have to choose a name both you and your partner like as it is hard enough to find a name that suits both of you without trying to include family in your decisions.

Well its a long name, but I think its cool you are bringing some family history into it. As far as ur mom not liking it, are you the one having the baby? are you and your husband going to be responsible for this child and his well being? Im athinkin' that its ur call. If you and ur hubby are happy, thats what matters. I think Landon is a great name!!!!

well i don't like the three names its too long and it just makes it difficult later when the kid has to give a middle initial on forms or applications.i feel its rude and pretentious.i don't like the name Landon.it is over used .i would either go with David Michael or Michael David.my opinion.congratulations and good luck !

I think it is a wonderful name
Naming your child is up to you and your husband, it is none of your mother's business. Kindly say to her that you love the name and nothing she can say can ever make you change your mind. Tell her that you can't imagine her complaining or commenting on the name for the rest of the kids life. And nicely say, that you havae heard her opinion and that it is time to stop talking about it. Please don't buy in to her arguments. You keep your head level and be logical. . keep smiling and don't fight back with her. You are an adult and you need to set limits on your mom and her opinions.

I love the name Landon! It's a great, strong name...not one of those "creative" names that the kid will outgrow at 9 or 10. I think it goes amazingly well with the two middle name choices of yours, too. Congratulations!
