I have a 1989 Toyota Camry V6 2.5L.
What type of OBD scanner do I need? Most shops out here say that they use a OBDII scanner and that it won't work on my car?

Do I need a OBDI?

1995 and older cars are OBD. Newer that 1995 are OBD2.

Older OBD cars should not need scanner as they can get the codes by grounding the scan connector under the dash.

Stop by library and get a Chilton or Haynes manual and it will instruct how to ground and read the codes and what they mean.
