Apt flooded because water heater leaked and wasn't at my apt for 1 week and when cleaners replaced carpet foam and clean carpet everything out of place and a mess. Called and asked if everything was done and *** manager said yes. I asked who is going to help me put everything back together and if I get discount on my next rent and got a nobody, and no answer. She said I could have been at home while they fixed carpet. 2 small kids with 80% of carpet wet and smelling like wet dogs and I should have stayed there anyways? What do I do to get justice for this crap? Talking to insurence on what to do cause some stuff got wet but not everything just boxspring and matress and tv stands but not up to my deductable? Anybody know how to deal with this kind of stuff and how to get it right?

First of all keep paying your rent on time. That way you have a case. Then immediately Write a letter almost like this question only in more detail. Make a couple of extra copies of the letter. Send one to the owner and the manager certified mail so you have proof they got it. Once they have received it, Then take your receipts and a copy of the letter to the Renters Rights authorities in your area. They will help you definitely.
