My 98 chevy malibu was driving fine a couple of days ago, all of a sudden it wont start, I mean completly dead. No lights, no clicking sound when I try and start it. Also after I jumpstart, It will only drive about 5 seconds then die out. I dont know wether its the starter, battery, etc...
Anyone have knowledge on this?

Help is MUCH appreciated!!
THANX!

Sounds like your alternator (which recharges the battery) or the belt that drives it failed, which drained the battery. Have the car towed to a decent mechanic and have it looked at. Expect tp spend from 200-400 dollars depending on the car. The battery might be OK if recharged, if not expect another 50-75 bucks.
Can't be the starter because the car does start.

I have a Chevy Malibu and I just dropped $1,100 on that sucker on Friday. That car needs to be permanently recalled. The only thing it's good for is protecting you in case you get into an accident.

With that being said, maybe your battery is dead. Try honking your horn. If it doesn't work, then your battery is definitely dead. Good luck!

Sounds like a bad alternator. Remove it and take it to a parts store and purchase a new one. In the meantime be charging your battery. Put the new one on and only after the battery is full charged should you start the car.

Bad alternator AND dead battery.

Leave the jumper cables hooked up for five minutes with the "good" car running to get some voltage back into the dead battery.
