has anyone ever done this? if so, do you put the patch on the outside or inside the jeans, as in "underneath" the hole? and do you sew it on or glue it with fabric/hot glue???

Sew it on the inside so you don't see the seams.

If you are patching wtih another cloth, I think it looks better if you put the patch on the inside of the jean. This provides a contrast with the jean material. You can use fabric glue to glue on the patch or sew it on. It's all about your preference.

it helps if you sew a piece of cloth on both sides of the jeans (one on the inside and one on the outside) make sure you use cloth that wont wear out fast too.
