Yep, gore really lost in 2000.

Even after he sent his Florida campaign workers a pamplet

Telling them how to prevent military absentee ballots from being counted.

Making the Bush campaign sue in 11 Florida counties , to force the Democratic county election commissioners to count the military absentee ballots.

Al Gore has never explained why his campaign would purposely try and block military absentee ballots from being counted in Florida.

I think the entire Democratic Party lost the 2000 election by doing little or nothing to change the election process during the many years they had control of both houses of congress and the presidency. Had there been run off elections to determine the winner of the 2000 election, Nader's votes would likely have gone to Gore during the run off, and he would have won a majority.

But the same lack of run offs may be what helped Bill Clinton win office. so it is fair to wonder if the Democrats would rather gamble on who will win under a plurality rules system, rather than give the voters the say in a majority rules system.

The same goes for The GOP, of course. If they had instituted run off elections in the states they rule, then maybe Bush Sr. would have won reelection and Bill Clinton might never have become President.

I think Mr. Gore lost before the votes were cast. The trouble started when he tried to oust Bill Clinton prematurely, that cost him whatever momentum he had from being Clinton's VP. He should have easily won, not even close.

Yes. Bush 'stole' the election, the 'stole' the next one. Bush is the very WORST President in U.S. history.
Hillary Clinton, if elected, would be the 2nd WORST President in U.S. history. -RKO- 06/17/07
