I'm an aunt they are cousins. They don't have a pool down here. There are no friends down here. The spa is too expensive. They already saw Nancy Drew and Shrek 3 with there parents! Okay so none of that!

In the city? In the country? Close to either? Maybe take them to a nature reservoir and have fun doing volunteer work, go to a wildlife habitat and have a list of things for them to find and check the list off as you go along(seperate lists depending on their interests)-with a prize or a picnic basket with goodies waiting around at the last item on the lists, cal the big brothers/sisters of america foundation and get them involved with children in that area-my cousin does it and she loves it.....Good luck!

Do some container growing. Grow flowers and perhaps some veggies. While the plants are growing, purchase some plastic pots that are larger than the container holding the plant and decorate the outside of the pots. Take pictures of the entire process and put pictures in a photo album. Go on a nature hike and collect leaves,
seeds pods, pebbles etc, and place collection
in a clear glass container. Decorate with a ribbon.
Plan an outside picnic and have each person cook/
prepare one dish for the meal. Take plenty of
pictures so these memories can be captured.
Find an interesting bug and then research that bug
on the Internet or library. The adventures are endless. Enjoy!

Start by getting a city or state recreation directory, most states have one and there are published guides, like Mobil, in the library.
Get a city, county or state map.
Get the newspaper(s).
Determine limits to your travel - bus, car, bike, walking, etc.
Set the kids loose on the guides and papers to find stuff to do within that area. Make lists and mark on the map where they are. Look for groups (like knitting and RC airplanes or boats) that are meeting. If the kids are in total disagreement, then negotiate that each will pick two from what has been found. Limit travel as needed.

Alternately, go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels and pick one craft area for each, then make each one also learn the other ones interest.

Try hemp jewelry. That should appeal to both of them. Start by getting a kit with instructions -- then just get some extra supplies and make your own things.

Is there a library nearby? That should work for both types.

Are there any volunteer opportunities anywhere nearby? Both tomboys and girlies often enjoy working with animals. Is there an animal shelter nearby that accepts younger volunteers if they come with an adult?

tie dye shirts, go to a zoo or museam, go to the park and look for cool rocks, our little city park stream had brachyopods and chrinoid stems in it. fossiles if you dont know. go to a planetarium show. go see a university campus, try roller blades, or skate boards, friendship bracelets are easy enough to make. even guys wear them sometimes. teach them to make something for their mothers. sew up tote bags and let them decorate them with paint pens. they arent as girly as purses so both should find them useful, go to joanns and get flip flops and flip flop decorating stuff.
