In my culture we wear white to funerals and during mourning period.I guessblack and white both are seen as simple and fit in wel with the sombre mood of such occasions.After all wearing a red dress to a funeral would be pretty much over the top in any culture.

Black signifies sadness. This is how it has worked out from centuries. Ofcourse it is not always like that because Black is pretty fashionable nowadays also.

i usually wear something dark, but if i was really close to the person and i know that they were really in church and God i will wear white. It would be more of a celebration of life.
