i have an 84 S10 and i am changing out the 2.8L V6 and transmission for a 383 and bigger transmission, how much would getting the drive shaft cut down to proper length cost? or getting a new one?

normally you would shorten for that swap and i have those done for around $100

The prices are different with each person you talk to best thing is get your measurements for the drive shaft and take it to a auto parts store or speed shop and they will quote you a price.

You really will need to call around.
As mentioned above, talk to a Speed Shop or call some local welders. I would feel more comfortable with a speed shop. They may refer you to a welder, but, because they know the welder know what to do.
