Depend of what you mean by "coolest" - either way, it is a matter of personal taste.
I agree, Gaudi is great but he is definitively not a 21st century architect...
But you can check out this one.... I think he's something else!

Gaudi for sure.
I see some comments stating that Gaudi is not a 21st century architect. Unfortunately if people would only comment on subjects that they understand they would realise that Gaudi is indeed a 21st century architect - the Sagrada FamÃlia is still under construction. Of course if you are referring to the dates when the person was alive then he isn't, but then, we wouldn't be interested in the work but the person then.

This guy isnt strickly an architect, he does all sorts of stuff (even bags?) But I like his rolling / curling bridge in London and afew other things hes done - Thomas Heatherwick

I hate to be pedantic, but didn't Gaudi die in 1926 - which means he isn't a 21st century architect ?
For me it has to be Norman Foster, purely for the Millau Viaduct - fantastic structure !

Gaudi. His work still carries on in Barcelona - brilliant; requires highest levels of craftsmanship not seen so much these days. Fun, colourful, diverse and technically challenging.
