If you have sprained it - follow advice already given. You will also need a good support bandage and not just on your ankle - it will need to go some way up your leg and down to your toes.
How do you know that you don't have a fracture? There are a lot of little foot bones which can be chipped and dislodged in a fall. I thought I'd sprained my wrist 18 months ago and an X-ray showed a fractured carpal and fractured metacarpal!

I sprained my ankle on thursday on a school trip and i had a cold pack (peas would do the trick) and ad it elevated. Put it up on a cushion or something sitting down so that the fluid doesnt gather to much ans cause too much swelling, the more swelling the more pain!!!

Hope it gets better soon xx

Even if it is just a sprain you need to get to casualty. I sprained my ankle so badly that it had to be put in a cast for 2 weeks. get something frozen on it NOW to relieve the pain and stop the swelling, if there is no change tomorrow, it's off to casualty with you young man!!!

alternate first an ice pack, then heat-a warm washcloth a hot water bottle, etc. on the area.paracetemol will kill the pain a bit,but it doesnt stop the inflammation.an nsaid such as ibuprofen will halt or at least decrease the inflamed, throbbing feeling of a sprained ankle.

Keep it elevated and iced. Ice on 15 minutes, wait awhile, back on 15 minutes, etc. Try to keep all weight off it. If it continues to remain swollen, or hurts to much for more than a few days, you need to have it X-rayed. Best of luck!

Elivate your ankle on a pillow or somethingand keep ice on it. Also you should stay off of it for a while and try to keep your mind off of it so play cards with someone or watch TV, etc.
