I want to say this movie was release in the 90's could be in the 80's. The movies starts off by showing a strong, hairy, small human like creature that lives under ground.he dig tunnels extremly fast using two stones on both wrist. Well, this creature needs to charge his cystal by using the power of the sun. In that being, He runs into humans and have conflick. As that goes, a couple of humans are having conflick with each other.
I can't really discribe it any better than that since I saw it as a kid and wanna see it again.

...you're talking about the riotous comedy/fantasy/adventure film, "A Gnome Named Gnorm" (the video release title), from 1990, also known as "Upworld" (I originally saw it in Japan, under that title), and starring Anthony Michael Hall.
Master make-up artist Stan Winston, taking the time off from his special effects duties, directed the film; this was also one of the films in which typecast actor Hall was desperately trying to escape his 'brat pack' persona.

It sounds a little like a movie called the Dark Crystal, but I'm not sure if there are humans involved in that movie.
