What happened 14.7 billion years ago is not helping with the weed problem on my farm. seems if scientist could even alter the genetics of these agravating weeds and turn them into food producers we would be better off?

To claim knowledge of events billions of years ago is a matter of some pride, I suppose. But, to attempt what you ask would be the height of hubris. All the crops harvested today are the descendants of something that was at least already edible. To introduce strains that would spread across the land replacing your pesky nightshades, thistles, and buffalo grass with something so different that we could then eat them would have no end of consequences to the interdependent creatures that evolved to live with them as they are.

weeds in general don't produce food for humans at least...so their very nature is not to make fruits or vegetables so it would be very difficult if not impossible (btw there wasn't a universe 14.7 billion years ago its only 13.75 years old)
