Mix 2 teaspoons of baking soda in a glass of water and brush on. After the bubbling stops, wipe clean.

I had something that got corroded and took it to work and gave it to the experts, the instrument guys, to look at. they did everything they could and nothing worked... and they have all the cleaning chemicals and instruments to do this kind of thing.

check battery guarantee. some makers will replace unit if battery leaks.
