I was driving and all of a sudden the engine shut down and the battery light came on and all of the other lights came on like the matainence lights. I now cannot get the engine to start up again and the glowplug still says its charing and all of the other lights stay on and i am unable to start it. So it is probably a part that is required to start the truck and needed to run the truck at the same time (maybe the glow plug or spark plug)??
We also tried jump starting the truck and it was still unsuccessful (EVEN with 2 cars) so I do not think it is the battery... by the way its a 2006 ford f-350 super duty v8 diesel if that helps in any way

any suggestions would be really helpful , thx

Your may have picked up some bad fuel. Pull the fuel filter & dump into a clean white container. Check for rust deposits & water. While the fuel filter is off, place a container under the filter port. Switch on the key, the fuel transfer pump should deliver fuel. If all is OK the engine is under warranty. Do not tamper with anything, have it towed to a reputable Ford Dealer.

Sounds like you have a fuel problem. Most likely the fuel filter or fuel pump needs replaced. Check your fuel pump relays and change fuel filter.
There are no spark plugs. Diesels fire off the heat of compression. The thing you see where spark plugs go in on an gas engine are fuel injectors. The glow plugs give a little help to fire up a cold engine That's all they do.
Its also all fuel injected and the timing is set by a computer that times fuel pump. The engine stops running when the ignition switch is turned off and then shuts off the fuel pump. So your ignition switch may not be turning on the fuel pump.

Computer chip that controls injection. Or broken drive to the injection pump, or plugged fuel filter, or out of fuel, or crankshaft timing sensor, or several other possibles. If you are getting white smoke out the exhaust while cranking, you are getting plenty of fuel. Could be air/fuel ratio valve.
