We don't have much in the way of rock from this time, but we have grains within other rocks that have been dated to ~4.4 billion years ago, that's only 200 million years after the earth is thought to have coalesced. So but this time we had rocks, as well as the processes of erosion to break them down into smaller grains.

sand is basically crumpled up rocks and seashells. So it's probably been here since the beginning!
