I know this question sounds really childish, but I think we've all been wondering about this in the course of our lives....haha. Alright, I don't mean to be philosophic here, but would it ever be possible to create real light sabers like in star wars?

They explained the possibilities of these things.
From today's technology it take a massive building to house this Plasma Technology they need. But, as they stated; things do get smaller over time as technology progresses. So, somewhere on a "Planet in a Galaxy Far Away" it may be possible, as it could be one day here.

Essentially you would need to create a mini black hole to keep the laser from extending any longer than 3 feet or so. Not a likely situation to say the least.

I'm gonna go with yes. My heart tells me that someday it will be possible...always listen to your heart...if you want it bad enough it will come.
