If you don't want to download anything, why don't you just use Google Maps:
http://maps.google.com/
It is pretty much the same thing but online without the download.

Hi,
I found a free downlaod of Google Earth here http://bitly.com/1qayMli
Google Earth is a virtual globe, map and geographical information program that maps the Earth by the superimposition of images obtained from satellite imagery, aerial photography and geographic information system
It's amazing.
Cheers ;)

I've downloaded Google Earth and it does come with a load of other stuff that you may not need or want. Once you've downloaded the whole lot just delete the stuff you don't want. You don't have to be online to use GE either.

I'm not sure if it's possible, but if it's not then you can always make a not of all the extra stuff that is installed, and then remove it after you have installed Google Earth.
Most of the stuff bundled with it is third party, so you can remove it without removing Google Earth
