He had a great career with the Washington Redskins. He had at one time led the league with Receptions in a season 106, back then that was damn good. He took over the league record for most receptions in 92 and had it for a few years before it was taken by Rice. He never complained, never asked for more money, always handed the ball to the ref after a catch, and when he broke the career recption record he was the most humble person to grab such an accolade. He should have been in HOF his 1st year. Unlike Jerry, Reed, Harrison, and some others, Monk went through a few different QB's in his time.

Will he get in? No. The longer it takes, the less likely it becomes. However, he SHOULD have been a 1st ballot choice his first year of eligibility. Lynn Swann is in, and not to take away from Swann, but Monk's numbers are significantly better. Art Monk will probably end up being one of the greatest NFL players who never got into Canton, and there will certainly be more WRs inducted that were less deserving than Monk. While we are at it, Roger Craig needs to be in the HOF too....

Sadly I'm not sure he will. He doesn't have anyone, other then MOST fans, lobbying for him. Come on Cokehead, I mean Irvin, got in BEFORE him. How the HE** does THAT happen? Maybe Aikman should start lobbying for Monk as a FAN OF THE GAME. After all he already got his BUDDY in.

He should someday.

It's insulting that Michael Irvin made it in his 2nd ballot and Monk with a more impressive career has not been elected.
