Are the complexities of the mind just an intricate result of that initial feeling? What is that feeling....is our problem that we are trying to deny it rather than accept it?

I don't know about you, but I think I sense that feeling in animals very stongly....a sort of tender "innocence" that they all share in common, and some vicious ones even "deny" that feeling themselves when their instincts for self-preservation are over-stimulated.

Here is the premise to my answer:

Thought occurs in the mind, mind is an element of consciousness that is manifest in the dimensions of our Universe (Space + Time + whatever ...refer string theory)

- based on this premise my best guess is that the first thought springs from the need to sustain and preserve oneself in this dimension - hence the corresponding feeling could be a combination of desire and fear

Hmm.
Well, this is the most interesting question I've seen recently.

If there was a "first feeling" I think it was FEAR.

You talk about about self-preservation and animal instinct--it's all based on fear. It's the burst of adrenaline that leads to fight or flight.

And what is innocence, if not lack of fear?

The thought would be:
"Do I fear this thing? Am I in danger?"

Then the thoughts would grow more complex.
"Do I trust this thing? Do I care about this thing? Do I love this thing? Why do I feel this way about this thing?"

Fear and lack of fear are the basis for all human and animal interactions.

The feeling that thought was first based upon, was the feeling of taking that first breath, then came hunger,etc.etc.! you could say that the complexities of the mind are an intricate result of that first feeling of breathing! to deny breath would mean to die! Feelings of innocence and self preservation come later when one is more evolved mentally!

Everyone has a different history, but the beginning of the learned identity begins with being shocked out of our innocence - made wrong, shamed, harmed or just perplexed. Unlearning that defensive identity with its complex thought system based on an intricate web of illusions and limitations is what we are up against.

The first thought I can remember today was based on the feeling of wonder. It was the first time I saw myself outside myself and realized I was more then I seemed. I realized that people have the capacity to lie and thus became aware of two worlds existing as one. The world of lies and the world of truths both entwined in this world of earth. I was in a state of wonder and amazed at all this world had to offer good and bad. Perhaps this is where the idea for heaven and hell come from?

Like a dream world when you wake from it into this world you have to reject that the dream world was real and live in the now or you risk die'n in this world. Something pulls you from the dream world into this world and makes you believe idk what that is but its amazing because the dream world is also real in its own ways I know this now. Perhaps its the love for this world and the understanding that suffering is happening here that keeps us from the dream world where nobody gets hurt really.

1)Hunger.
2)Why do you assume "we " have a problem?
3) Your question asks "what feeling" and then you go on to state that you think you sense that feeling in animals. What feeling? Did you want an answer or not? A tender vicious one makes no sense.

i would think the feeling and thought would be, "here i am, what happens now, what is this place i am in ", and yes, just an open, innocent looking around, observing state of mind, if you look closely, you might see this in little newborn babies
